Laurel Smyth’s early career in children’s theatre honed her skills as a writer of plays, poetry, TV scripts and short fiction. Her work has been published in anthologies and magazines, performed on stage, film, television and radio, and toured Island schools. Laurel has gratefully received grants from the PEI Council of the Arts in support of her work in writing and theatre, and prizes from the Island Literary Awards, Theatre PEI Playwriting Competition, PEI Theatre Festival and UPEI’s Reshard Gool Award for Creative Writing. Now retired, Laurel concentrates on completing her collection of short stories and stage plays.
