Geoff Hussey spent his adult life working for newspapers and television including The Telegram, The Star and, latterly, the CBC. Whilst executive producer for PEI’s supper hour program Compass it won two Anik awards. Since retirement he’s been trying to expand his horizons. His play Lucky 19 won first prize in the island’s New Voices Playwriting Competttion. Also, he just completed his first novel, Charlie of Île Saint Jean: a ribald and dramatic recapitulation of Prince Edward Island 18th Century history, highlighting the expulsion of the Acadians; the development of the fledgling shipbuilding industry; and the daily tribulations of King George’s peasant soldiers.
