The PEI Writers' Guild is thrilled to be presenting this exclusive in-person, full-day memoir writing seminar hosted by award winning journalist and memoirist Marjorie Simmins.
The Magic of Memoir - with Marjorie Simmins will give participants the opportunity, prior to the workshop, to submit up to 10 pages of a work in progress to Marjorie for her to evaluate and offer feedback on to help develop the work. This full-day workshop will also include writing prompts, include writing prompts, word and story games, readings, and discussions. Marjorie will also be bringing some of her large personal memoir library with her for participants to view. Following the workshop, Marjorie will also be signing copies of her book, Memoir: Conversations and Craft, as well as offering her other three titles for sale.
Marjorie Simmons is the author of the popular memoir Coastal Lives, as well as being an award-winning writer and journalist who teaches memoir writing across Canada. Her many books are available on Amazon, through the Nimbus Publishing website, or in independent bookstores throughout the country.
This special event will take place SATURDAY, JUNE 25th, 2022 from 10:00 a.m–3:00 p.m in Charlottetown at the historic Haviland Club.
Registration for this event is limited to 10 participants, and the cost is $150 per registrant. Due to the pre-seminar writing evaluation component, the deadline to register is Saturday , JUNE 18th 2022.

About Marjorie Simmins

Marjorie Simmins has a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of British Columbia, a Certificate in Adult Education from Dalhousie University, and a Research Master of Arts in Literacy Education, at Mount Saint Vincent University. She teaches memoir writing across Canada, at venues such as at the UBC Alumni Centre, in Vancouver, BC (2016); at StoryFest, in Hudson, QC (2017); at Thinkers Lodge, Pugwash, NS (2014-2019); and the Fortress of Louisbourg, NS (2019). In September 2020, she took part in the Cabot Trail Writers Festival. In November 2020, she was awarded the prestigious Established Artist Recognition Award by Arts Nova Scotia.
Simmins’s fourth title, Somebeachsomewhere: The Harness Racing Legend from a One-Horse Stable, was released for publication in the spring of 2021, with Nimbus Publishing.
